Last weekend I was able to chat with a couple of gorgeous ladies that requested a blog about Eyes and what shade of color looks best with the eye color. I normally stay away from this topic, b/c it can get a little overwhelming. Shading, accenting, dramatic, everyday, different eye shapes and so on...there are so many different areas to explore!
Today we will keep it simple; what shades look best for different eye colors.
Blue Eyes: If you have blue eyes, or blue/green eyes, or anything that resembles some sort of blue, these are the best shades for you. Different shades of brown, camel or gray are a staple, especially for day. To spice things up you can add a fun accent color like green, plum, violet in the crease or along the lash line. Peach is one of my favorite shades for spring and summer and would be beautiful for blue-eyed girls, especially if you are in the sun and get some color. It looks great on everyone!
Brown Eyes: Go ahead and pat yourself on the back! You can pretty much wear any color you desire on your eyes. Always start with a neutral shade of taupe or khaki for the lid and then play with any color you wish. For a day look add a violet, plum, green or hazel shade in the crease. It will give you drama without looking over done. For night, amp up all of those colors by adding several applications and line your eyes with black liner for drama.
Hazel Eyes: Not brown, not green...hazel! Depending on what you wear, they may look more brown or more green. I, myself, have hazel eyes, so I feel like I've had lots of experience with this particular color. In addition to brown eyes you can use almost every shade of color, besides green. Always start with a neutral shade on your lid, like brown, taupe or khaki. For day use violets, purples, or plums along the lash line or in the crease. These colors make the "green" in your hazel eyes pop! For night, try darker shades of blues, eggplant, or charcoal.
Green Eyes: Pure green eyes are very rare, so if you have them, you are very special! Any shade of brown looks pretty with green eyes and compliment the color. Don't be afraid to use a chocolate brown with the taupes, caramels and khaki shades. This also applies to purples, violets and plums. Shimmers of gold also look amazing with the green eye! For evening use these shades but amp up the application. Try black liner to make it even more dramatic!
One last tip that applies to all eye color and shape...you MUST blend! This is the trick that most people have not mastered. A good staple in your makeup bag would be a good blending brush, like this one. You almost can't go wrong with any color when you are blending!! It is worth the extra money.
